The Gohar family has been part of the local community ever since the ship carrying their grandfather from India landed on the shores of Pemba, Zanzibar more than 100 years ago. Today, their love for the country is expressed through Johari Developers, the family-run firm dedicated to transforming real estate across Tanzania. 

Developer Overview

Founded in 1990 and part of the renowned Al Husseini Construction (AHC), a class one construction company, Johari Developers specialises in modern high-rise residential, commercial, educational, medical and sports facilities including shopping malls, hospitals, race courses and gyms. Their properties form the landscapes of Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Iringa, Morogoro, Bagamoyo, Ruvuma and many other regions in Tanzania. 

Over the decades, they’ve grown from a contractor to an end-to-end developer of high-end properties, and their in-house team includes carpentry, joinery, metal and welding workshops.  By controlling the build process from planning to finish, they’re able to offer quality and safety at the highest level.

The growth of the Tanzanian economy has increased the demand for commercial real estate. Johari Developers has met this need with well-planned, competent design; uncompromising construction work; and trustworthy, consistent service.

    DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

    Walid guides the technical direction at Johari, emphasising precision and adherence to engineering fundamentals at Johari Beach Residences. His educational journey took root at the University of Cape Town, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, laying the groundwork for a distinguished career in construction and project management. Walid brings over nine years of rich experience, having contributed his skills and expertise to notable projects across South Africa, Namibia, and Tanzania. His approach to project management is deeply rooted in sustainability and client satisfaction, making him a key player in Johari's mission to deliver quality developments that stand the test of time.

  • Martha

    PROJECT ARCHITECT

    As the project architect, Martha Paul Nyanda is the creative force behind Johari Beach Residences. A cherished member of the Johari team, she brings over five years of experience across a variety of architectural projects. Martha has a unique talent for precisely understanding client needs and desires, consistently delivering results that exceed all expectations. Registered with the AQRB and a member of the AAT, she has spearheaded designs for significant projects, including a 40-unit residential development in Dar es Salaam. Her innovative approach and dutiful commitment to quality, paired with her natural talents, make her an indispensable part of the Johari team.

  • Bessie

    PROJECT COORDINATOR

    Bessie leads projects at Johari with a watchful eye, ensuring deadlines are met and standards are upheld. Born in Paris and educated across Prague and the United Kingdom, she brings a degree in Construction Management and Property Development to the table. After contributing to UK projects, Bessie shifted gears to tackle transaction management and customer service with a New York real estate firm. Her decade-plus journey through administration, customer service, and hospitality, paired with managerial roles, makes her a great asset of the Johari Developers team, driving projects to success with precision and dedication.

Deeply passionate about crafting spaces that exude both elegance and functionality, Tomasz's work on the Johari Beach Residences showcases his exceptional ability to merge innovative design with the area's unique charm.

In recognition of displaying an extraordinary commitment to health and safety, AHC was awarded the Golden Hard Hat award by British Gas for works performed at Mtwara Praia Hotel in Tanzania.
